iv just been to a+e and they just gave me co codamol ! so you reckon the chiro thing is worth it ?il need to investigate ,its defo worth it if it works
Most times, if you see a Doc about a back problem you just get painkillers and told to rest. It will eventually "get better" but the underlying problem will still be there. Chiropracters treat the source of the problem which is usually a misalignment of the spine - vertebral subluxation. Your spine can be out of alignment from birth and it can just take some minor trauma, sudden twisting or poor posture to result in problems like Sciatica. Traditional chiro treatment is a bit like what you get at an osteopath, but (from my experience) less heavy-handed. Some chiropractors use a special activator tool which is kinder still.

iv been posting on a local forum and the info iv been getting is for gen physio at a place not far from me ,the opinion there is that spinal manipulation is not really the best as chiros dont have an accountable body ,so in reality anybody can do it (i think)
the physio iv been recc does a lot of sports related stuff and another forum user has actually used the guy in the past for sciatica!! im gona give the physio a go

Ouch Jim, GWS! I had an innocuous knock to my chest about 3 years ago but the next morning I couldn't move my arm behind the back (no good for getting thing out of the rear cycling jersey pockets), a semi paralysis and it lasted for months and a year later out of the blue there was a relapse (not as bad though); touch wood there has been no relapse this year.
Anyway from the people I've known I've never heard a bad word about a physio but I've often heard folk coming out of chiro sorer than they were when they went in and in the extreme cases (on TV) ive heard worse; I think physio is you're better bet.

I've had a "bad back" since a lifting accident 45 years ago (I'm 65 now) and recently started with sciatica. I googled it and found an excercise specifically for this and guess what.........it worked. After 3 days the pain had gone. It has come back twice in 12 months but the stretching excercise has got rid of it each time.
Try googling sciatica excercises and see what comes up.
