I recently got a used bike that was in very good condition, but when i parked it and folded down the stick it feel over and the brake levers are scraped up,i dont see any mechanical problems, only cosmetic, but its frustrating me,should i leave them as proof that the bike is mine if its stolen?

Black levers?

Lights sanding and spray can, tape the surroundings well so if you
slip with the sandpaper you don't mess up,
or upgrade lever, second hand part will do the trick.

Irritating but if it doesn't affect the function of the brakes then I'd leave it, you won't notice it after a couple of weeks.

I scraped the paint on a new bike locking it a bike stand in town once, I was so annoyed. Those marks are still there.

I'd either live with it or touch up with spray or brush as suggested.

The first time this sort of thing happens to a new bike it's gutting... after a few years and a few more scrapes it's less of a big deal.

It is something that puts me off buying a new MTB though!

I always have some satin black touch up paint in the garage, just the job for scratched skewers, levers etc.
