SD card help

I've got a problem with the SD card in the digicam. Pictures and video display and play ok in the camera (Finepix WP) BUT I can't copy the photos off the card.
Have tried the win XP desktop pc, both via usb ('unknown device' and suggests plugging it in again) and card reader (gives error and won't copy anything, then won't recognise card is even inserted until after a reboot)
Also tried the Ubuntu laptop. Camera won't mount via usb and again input error when using card reader.
As card is being read by the camera, I've even taken and deleted more pictures on it, I'm assuming all is not yet lost and they are capable of being taken off the card and saved elsewhere. Which is what I was attempting to do as they are mostly this years holiday snaps

Any suggestions?

There was a new standard for higher capacity SD cards, over 4GB I think, and older readers won't recognise them. I had to buy a new reader to plug into a USB port, not very expensive at Maplins.

you can probably attach the camera to the pc and use it as a reader. as has been said, older sd readers won't recognise sdhc

Tried the camera as a usb reader without any success, just comes up as an 'unknown device' and suggests I unplug & plug it back in, which doesn't work. Card is only 2Gb anyway.

You have run the software disc (supplied with the camera) on your computer (and read the relevant section in the instruction manual)?
