Hi all, just planning for next year, me and my son are thinking we'd like to do a sea to sea. I'd prefer a mostly off road route, cycle paths etc, and somewhere up north if possible.

Any route suggestions?

Reivers Route? I think it goes up through Keilder Forest & well off-road i.e. along forest tracks for miles. Haven't ridden the route myself but have been through that forest once, had to be bang on navigation wise to avoid getting lost. But I'd hope the route proper would be signposted. There is a website but it is trying to sell you a map and guidebook of the route.

The well known crossings are:

Walney to Wear
C2C - Workington to Sunderland
Hadrians Cycle Way
Reiver's route
Trans Pennine Trail
Way of the Roses

All of them have some sort of web site dedicated to them.
All of them have published maps
Some of them have guidebooks
None of them are entirely off road
All of them involve crossing the Pennines

Hadrians's cycle way is the 'flattest' and the one that I'd recommend for a first crossing.
Trans Pennine Trail is the least scenic

Looks like Hadrians Way, then. Though I had rather fancied finising in Whitby or Robin Hoods Bay.

You can finish or start where ever you like. It's not like people are checking up on you.
