We don't get as many as we used to - think it's the cutbacks.

Yup - they (7,000+ mostly black headed gulls) roost on the local reservoir and then head for the tip during the day.

I live by the sea and we get surprisingly few of them round here ... but go 1/4 mile down the road to the nearest egress to the sea - and there are loads of them!

We get more parakeets than gulls down my way. They don't half make a racket too.

There's a great urban myth that they escaped during the filming of The African Queen in 1951 from Shepperton Studios, but hey, back to the gulls....
