I have a triban 3 which has a 29.8 seatpost I swapped it for a 400mm post a while back but im not happy with the amount of post in the frame so I want a 450mm to get some more post down the tube.

So ive been looking and cant find a 450mm 29.8, but lots of 27.2's...

So my question is are shims a good solution? Would they by proxy add a little strength to the top of the tube?
