Hi all,

I'm going to be undertaking the Trans Pennine Trail next month. I'll be staying in Southport so I'm ready to go in the morning but, long story short, I need somewhere secure in central Liverpool for my bike and panniers the day before. Any ideas? I've found lots of secure options online (like the bike storage room in Liverpool One's car park) but would ideally like to lock the panniers away at the same time.

Does anyone know of any storage boxes in the city centre?

The other option is I could check the panniers in to left luggage at Lime Street station but that'd be £8 each I think which seems a bit steep.

Thanks in advance!

If you google 'secure bike storage Liverpool' this is one of the results:

they say there's 24-hour access so presumably that means you can leave a bike overnight. You'll probably have to take your panniers with you to Southport, or stump up for leaving them at Lime Street.

Thanks very much - I did mention that one in my original post. It looks like a good option but there doesn't appear to be safe storage for panniers. I was looking for a bike box or similar really.

I'm not looking to leave it in Liverpool overnight, just during the day while I go to the football. I'll be taking the train out to Southport (with bike and panniers) that evening. Thanks for your help

How early are you leaving? Merseyrail from southport is really cycle friendly and I wouldnt hesitate for a moment taking my bike and panniers on it.

Thanks! Yes, that's the plan in the evening. But my train from down south arrives at Lime Street at lunch time then I'm going to the football before heading back into town to catch the train to Southport. So essentially I just need somewhere safe to leave the bike and panniers while I go to the match. They do have secure storage at Anfield but nothing secure for the panniers, and I can't take them into the stadium... think left luggage at Lime Street may be the best solution!

Unfortunately, Lime St looks like your only option. I am riding the TPT at the end of June, and would be interested in how you get on. Perhaps you could post a travelogue or whatever they are called.

We parked in Liverpool one a few weeks ago and saw the bike store. I think there were some lockers outside, like left luggage. Might work for the panniers?
Might be worth giving them a ring to check.

You could use something like one of those big checked laundry bags, or even a roll of cling film to turn two panniers into one package and cut the cost
