Driving home on M6 and pulled off at Corley Sevices to call the cops about some debris on the motorway (one of those huge metal clips/straps off HGV.. the reason for that was coz I once saw a car go over one and it bounced up and punctured the petrol tank). Anyway i didn't go into the services car park,I just pulled up in the layby on the services slip road and reported it on the non emergency number and then when I finished my call a white transit pulled up behind me in the layby. 3 blokes got out and they took out a white cylinder, same size as a scuba diving air tank or large fire extinguisher. It had a weird shaped top which I can only describe as wing nut shaped, which they unscrewed, and as they pulled the top out there was an internal cylinder attached to the top. Then they tipped the contents into the bushes. After they had gone I went to have a look to see what they dumped but couldn't find where they actually tipped it. Anyway I felt a bit of a twat calling the cops back when I couldn't see what they'd done, so i convinced myself it was probably an empty cylinder they'd used as a p!ss pot or something and carried on, but its played on my mind ever since, bcoz the more I think it the more I remember that they were being very careful not to spill the contents on themselves (which is what made it look suspicious... the way they removed the top and pulled the internal thing out at arms length... It reminded me of that scene out of The Rock, where he has to remove the string of chemical balls without breaking one) and why would blokes have a p!ss pot in their van, coz they can just pull over and use their personal hose if they get caught short? And would you really be that scared of wee? I think this is why I can't sleep so i just reported it to environmental services on their dumping hotline and gave them the reg number. Over reaction or not? Have I seen too many movies?

Always better to get it checked out, even if it is a bit late now

Night time is often the time something would be dumped though.
My guess, going on what your description, is that they were in a CCTV blindspot. Which makes it more likely that its not the first time they've done this. If you go there again, look for a dead spot.

It could have been anything that was dumped, truth IS stranger than fiction, so you did the right thing reporting it.

I would have reported them too. It sounds very strange, whatever it is they were up to.
hmmm - I would be careful not to spill the contents onto myself aswell...
but you are right it is odd, WVM would normally keep pish pot until cyclist filtering by in heavy traffic - lol

Seriously though pouring chemicals into the countryside is a big NO NO (and as strange as it may seem the area along the side of motorwys is rich in wildlife). You should have photographed them, got their reg and reported it
Yes you're right, I'm kicking myself for not filming them . I was so intrigued and also didn't want them to see me (I've got darkened windows so I don't think they knew I was in the car) I totally forgot I could do that until after they drove off.
