Don't leave the lights on the bike. Simple.
TBH this was the one time that I had. I was late for college (didnt feel well on the way so went slowly) so I decided just to leave them on. I wont be making that mistake again.

Have you thought about investing in a decent video camera to monitor the bike while you're not there?

No. I am not SOTW. I do not see the point in having 6 cameras (well I do but just dont have the finances for that).

With the bike being in a locked bike cage with restricted access, I thought it would be the safest place.

SOTW? Forgive my ignorance, the other site I frequent this would be Shed of the Week, don't think that's what you mean!

Damn light-fingered thief, again!

So how long does it take to recharge that many lights? Do you have a multi-port USB hub to connect them all? Hopefully, they're not all battery-operated, because that would completely offset the benefit to the environment of having a bicycle.

The LED ones are AAA. You can get loads of them from Aldi really cheaply. The better ones run AA battery packs which are rechargeable.
