Back in the day, when I was in the army we used to do "pen pictures", a brief on how a soldier had done on a certain tasking. These would go to their yearly CR(appraisal). I once wrote, amongst other things, "This soldier is as much use as Anne Frank's drum kit" Got it sent back and told to word it in a different manner.
