It's a funny routine, but also somewhat unfair. One of the acknowledged problems with long-term unemployment is that depression can set in on the part of the jobseeker, and skepticism about their ability to hold down a job on the part of employers. Decent work experience schemes (not working in Poundsaver ...) can address both issues.
