I'm about to move home, probably to a flat which won't have bike storage, so I need to get rid of my bikes before I move on 30/10. I don't intend to stop cycling altogether - I'll get myself a folder once I've moved in :-)

I intend to post them on ebay this afternoon (after I've washed them and taken pictures) Do any of you have a view on what kind of starting price I should set to a) more or less guarantee that they sell but b) avoid the heartbreak of someone getting them for £1!

The three bikes in question are:

Giant Escape 2 hybrid - size S - fitted with mudguards and rack (not factory as in Escape City) probably from around 2010-12
Specialized Allez - 54cm - somewhat older I think and I've frankebiked it by swapping out the Claris for Tiagra 4700 and 105 brakes
Dolan Previsio - probably also 54cm- with Campag Veloce and nice Campag wheels

All three are black, so I know @vickster won't be interested!

I will post picture this afternoon with links to the ebay listings, but I'm very happy to accept offers from CCers if you're interested. In the meantime advice from you lot on how to successfully sell bikes in a hurry would be hugely appreciated. I'm in Potters Bar and it would be pick up only.

For me the price is always difficult to judge especially if you are under time pressure so for me, the price is the least you’d be happy to let them go for so if you ideally would like £xxx but in reality would accept say £100 or whatever price then put that as your price.

I would also think about a buy it now price rather than auction as the right buyer can buy it there and then.

Make sure you state cash on collection or whatever payment method you are happy with and also when collecting the buyer should have a code (sent to them in their winning bid email) which you key into eBay as proof they have collected.

Well - Here are the pictures - I'm thinking of putting them up with an initial bid of £50 and a "buy it now" of £140 for each of them. Does that sound reasonable?

Yes - I know I didn't do a very good job of washing them - but you should have seen them before - they've been in the shed untouched for year - Yuck, spiders :-)

Well I'm happy to take offers, but I have to sell them and have them picked up the the 31st October and I imagine I'll get more potential buyers on the bay.

Feel free to put in a cheeky offer if you like :-)

Do ensure on e bay you clearly explain that everything works and any servicing done as often people get the wrong idea.

I think its a cross over from Facebook thing, but unsure.

@JohnHughes307 - the bikes look nice but getting the spelling and details correct will help them sell.

The 'Nolan' is actually a Dolan, as put above by @T4tomo and 'Campagnola' is actually spelt 'Campagnolo'. Stating that they're Centaur shifters with a Veloce derailleur will also help.

The Specialized Allez looks to have Shimano Tiagra 4600, not 4700. That's important as they aren't compatible. I'd add into the title 'Shimano Tiagra 10 speed', correct the 4700 to 4600, and in the listing add it's 10 speed as that's not clear.

With the Giant stating it's got Shimano Altus gears would help in terms of perception of quality.

Best wishes with the sale.

Thanks @DCLane I have followed your excellent advice - although I am deeply ashamed by the Nolan / Dolan mixup!
