It's more of a devolution of civilisation. It's the mentality of 'I can drink bleach, so I will' 'I can walk on a dual carriageway, so I will' . 'I can shove my hand in a blender, so I will' councils provide hard segregated cycle tracks, aiming to make life easier for cyclists ( and also keep peds out of potential harms way ) some people with an over inflated sense of entitlement, then decide, that because 'it's their right, God damn it' they are going to negate / neutralise, all the good work.

Aside from the obvious question of "where is the good work in a segregated cycle facility?" I'm with Tim. Does it really interfere with your day so much to slow down for people who are walking on a cycle path? Hopefully amongst the many numpties we all see on the roads, there are motorists who slow down for you, who don't blast past you at 50mph etc just because you are exercising your right to ride your bike on the road.

Does it really interfere with your day so much to slow down for people who are walking on a cycle path? Hopefully amongst the many numpties we all see on the roads, there are motorists who slow down for you, who don't blast past you at 50mph etc just because you are exercising your right to ride your bike on the road.

A road isn't specifically designed for any type of road user, a SEGREGATED CYCLE LANE WITH GREAT BIG PICTURES OF A BIKE ALL OVER IT, kind of is designed to try and persuade a particular demographic, to stick to the bit, with the obvious clues on it. In case anyone is truly that hard of understanding, BIT WITH PERSON PAINTED ON IT, for people, BIT WITH BIKE PAINTED ON IT, for bike. There, I even capitalised, and made bold the clues for you.

Generally from drivers who believe the volume of their shouting, and the "richness" of their vocabulary, justifies and validates their ........... very personal reinvention of the Highway Code. But of course, their re-invention suits THEIR interests.

A ROAD ISN'T SPECIFICALLY DESIGNED FOR ANY PARTICULAR TYPE OF VEHICLE. There, I've capitalised and made bold the bit you still seem to have missed. Although strictly speaking, roads are actually designed with LGV / PSVs in mind (in terms of designed durability).

You are a bit of a condescending a*** aren't you? Paths of any kind, regardless of colour or pretty pictures are designed for people to walk on. As with the road the pedestrian, as the most vulnerable, has the highest priority.

If you find slowing down for someone who happens to be occupying a space you wish to occupy so onerous I suggest you GET ON THE ROAD IT'S WHERE CYCLISTS, AS TRAFFIC, BELONG. There you go, I capitalised and put it in bold to make it easy for you. You'll also feel at home on the road cos there are a few of your kindred spirits out there who believe anyone who forces them to slow is fair game for attack.

Oh and with the exception of motorways most roads in the UK were designed with foot and equine traffic in mind. Been in the City of London for example? Show me a road in there that was designed with an HGV in mind

Have you read the regulations.... The bit with a bike painted on it DOES NOT MEAN ONLY BIKES can use it exclusively, in fact the regulations mention PEDESTRIANS CAN use it.
