Do you let people ride your most treasured bicycle.

Just curious.

I've invited a few folk to have a go on my Woodrup. Mice of this parish's reaction to being offered a go was the most effusive yet disbelieving reaction to being offered something that I've ever seen. It made my day.

Paradoxically I've not offered rides on any of my other bikes.

I'd let people *try* my bikes, but I'd really only do that for people I know, whom I know to be capable cyclists, unlikely to steer straight into the nearest tree

As long as I know them, they can have a go. It's not like people really just crash bikes unless they have never ridden on before. Ridding is easy, making it look easy is the hard part.

The OH occasionally uses my bike if his is out of action for some reason. I have extreme bike theft paranoia though, so the loan usually comes with an hour long bike locking lecture!

To family and friends, no problem at all. The main restriction is size - my smallest bike is a large so it's a kerfuffle bodging a good-enough temporary fit. I suppose it would be easier if I went out and bought a shorter stem but it never seems to get high enough on my shopping list.

I've had to say None. The only reason being is that it's a very small bike and most of my friends are way taller than me!

Happy to let people ride my bikes.
My best bike which I bought last July 2 people have tried it.
My other 'nice' bike a good few.
I'm not that precious about them to be honest.

Yep. Just a bike. Mind you, I would draw the line at my saddle suffering the symptoms of 'Walnuts whip'...so I wouldn't let him have a go.

Some bikes I've let lots of people on. My Brommie has been ridden by about 3-4 (not all at once), my SS and Ribble Ratbike have been ridden by all sorts, but the Carbon Uberbike has only been ridden by me and one other person - Plax of this parish.
And that's only because I was on her Galaxy at the time.

No problem with me, assuming I trust them. It has a positive effect, on two occasions, guys have come back and said...'I can't believe how fast/light it is'. Its nice to get positive remarks
One guy complained it was too fast...it scared him
