Sheffield Cycle Thief - Transit Pickup J81 VOL

Mate of mine just had his bike lifted from back garden, over the fence. Black Felt MTB (not sure on model, one up from the 200Q)

Registration of van J81 VOL was taken by neighbours, apparently stole a second bike the same day. Police aware and have gone to investigate but no word yet on arrest or recovery of bikes

Seems to be more of a deliberate thief than an opportunistic "scrappie who forgot to ask" as this one complete bike was taken rather than a collection of more scrap-value old bike frames in the neighbour's back garden that they accessed the property via

Anyway, watch out for this vehicle in Sheffield or Rotherham (Registered in Rotherham)

Pure speculation but that sounds like either someone has been scoping him out or someone who over looks the garden could have been involved. Hope the police trace the bike and he gets in back in one piece.
I hope you mate has learnt his lesson that scroats will nick anything not locked down/up.

You would think so, wouldn't you, given that a couple of years ago I helped lay the base for and erect a metal shed/garage after thieves got disturbed trying to nick his scooter out of the back garden....

Anyway the plus side is that he's now considering a more suitable replacement for commuting rather than a budget MTB, so if I'm riding with him I might not need to keep slowing down
