Works moving to a custom made building. Staff have been 'consulted' on various things. This has just turned up.... whaddya think?
My 1st impression, not impressed.
Seems to me something not designed for a commuting bike.
I've not much experience of stands. I don't normally leave my bike in the open. At work, up to now, its been inside and upstairs. If this isn't inside 'the compound' I can see me having to strip off lights etc. & is that whats referred to as a 'wheel bender'?
It's said to be a 6 bike stand. If all six spaces are occupied, are you supposed to be able to get to the front, between the 2 bikes to lock/unlock yours?
So far...

EDIT !! misread OP

I would look elsewhere , the shelter looks a like it only provides cover from rain if its coming straight down and no protection from wind etc .
Can you hide the bike inside?

Commutes gonna double to 15+ hilly miles both ways too... add in we've been told there'll be no lockers for staff, so I'm still going to have plastic tubs under my desk.
They may change their minds though after a couple of hot wet rides in, in the same gear, with it drying under my desk in a communal office?

(they've got the shelter and stands for 6 bikes - original plan was to have it at the far end of the carpark, away from any overlooking windows and within a few yards of the footpath.)

Unless the shelter is fully enclosed some amount of rain ingress is inevitable. Our work has something very similar to this one. OK, the bike gets wet most times, but it does have decent Sheffield stands.

The thread disappeared after it got moved to 'kit'
Well the builders provided this shed and assembled it, before its final location had been finalised. Its now sat inside as on the first day it blew away, down the hill and had to be retrieved.
I know one guys got a brilliant deal on a Gary Fisher, listed at 2k through CTW, I can't see him wanting to use this shelter?

I don't think anybody would want to use that shelter. Especially not with any bike valued at more than £20. All it takes is some less-than-careful work colleague with a cheap ass mountain bike and your roadie wheels will be trashed, and it can be getting rained on for hours, cycling for 15 miles on a water-logged bike now free from any sort of lubricants with wonky wheels, ouch.

I take it management don't want any bikes inside any more?

When we moved offices at the start of 2011 there was great talk of installing a shelter or at least a rack of some sort. In the meantime I started locking the bike to a drainpipe directly ouside a window, and using a Sainsbury plastic bike cover (£7), and that's the way it has stayed as there has been no more talk. I'm happy enough as I'm the only regular commuter, and the bike is covered, secure and visible from inside the office.

Just telling you this to show that there are sometimes better unofficial options.

yep there's plenty of talk of bringing the bikes inside. But it has been stated they won't be allowed....
Seems weird that there's talk of promoting cycling, but the way they do this is by providing worse facilities?
