OK, thanks. I will ride it to the end of its life...
probably the best option - new wheels are the best & biggest investment I have made on mine and they have made a considerable difference to me. Otherwise new cassette & chain I just stayed 8 speed but went to an 11-28 setup from the original 12-25 setup I had.

I've not owned Triban 3, but I am a big fan, and I can say that from everything I know about them the wheels appear to be made from cheese.

Triban 3 frames seem to be very good though, I agree that a wheel/tyre upgrade would make a big difference. They can also be transferred to a new bike further down the line easily.

Change the shifters to Claris to get rid of the thumb lever and just ride it :smile:

I've not owned Triban 3, but I am a big fan, and I can say that from everything I know about them the wheels appear to be made from cheese.
It is their weakest point, hubs mostly. Swap the original ball bearings for some decent ones asap and they're not so bad. New balls only cost a few quid.
Fortunately wheels are easy to replace and a bit of surfing at sale time you can pick-up some half decent Shimanos etc. for a steal.
