Is it possible to upgrafe to the posh integrated brake / gear shifters ???? anyone done similar all hints tip and advise happily received !

You just need to buy the new shifters, new brake and gear cables and cable housing. Just make sure the shifters are compatable with your bikes gear range.

The simple answer is generally no, certainly not without some pain.

Am not sure what you mean by centrepull brakes, because true centrepull brakes haven't been made and put on bikes for around 20 years. It seems the Saracen Tuff Trax is a mountain bike originally? If brakes and chainsets are like the one below then you will find that drop bar sti front shifters don't pull enough cable for the front mech. So you might have to change the front mech, but since most road triple front mechs require a different chainline compared to mtb ones, you should measure the current chainline, and if it is 50mm you might have to change the bb or perhaps even bb+chainset to deliver the 45mm chainline most road front mechs assume. You get the gist of potential knock-on effects?

That is assuming you have cantilever brakes like that below. If you have V brakes then it gets worse, because drop bar road sti levers don't pull enough cable for V brakes.
