Shimano 2300 shifter replacement

I'm looking to replace a pair of Shimano 2300 shifters because my crazy brain just can't handle (no pun in ten dead) the cables coming out of the sides. Are there any options? Thanks in advance for your replies.

Shimano R2000 which are 8 speed Claris or take a punt on Sensah ones?

I think there is also shimano GRX 400 but that would also require a new mech and cassette.

Sora will work too I believe with a 9spd cassette, tiagra and above won't. Iirc.

When my 2300 shifter broke, local bike shop recommended a new groupset. Now on 105 and very happy with the upgrade.

Already got 2 bicycles running 105 g'sets (5800 and R7000) and happy with them both. I will probably sell the 2300 parts as they are now superfluous.
