Evening all
My road bike has Shimano Tiagra 4600 shifters. I am looking to go up to a 32t cassette so looking for a new medium/long cage compatible rear derailleur.
Long cage 4601’s are like rocking horse poo, the 4700 is not compatible (thanks Evans for the bad and expensive WRONG advice).
105 5700 not easy to get hold of
105 5701 easier to get hold of but not 100% sure it’s definitely compatible
Which would be my best option please???
Kind regards

I've not used one myself but understand you can use an derailleur extender to accommodate larger cassettes, like this one:

Edit: Or even this one:

Hi and thanks. Been recommended one of this type of thing but as I am currently running a Tiagra 4700 rear derailleur that is not compatible (thanks again Evans) and needs replacing I am looking and wanting to make sure I get the correct one this time
Kind regards

Shimano 5701 will be compatible - it's basically a 5700.

My son's Columbus cross bike runs 4600 shifters with a 5701 medium cage rear derailleur.
Thanks, that’s what I was hoping someone would be able to confirm and is it ok with an 11-32t cassette?
Best regards

That's what we've got at the moment, on Fulcrum 5 LG wheels. So "yes".
Great news all round.
Thanks guys for your input

A deore M951 9sp rear mech will work absolutely fine also, and give you at least 11-34 range. MTB and Road rear cable pull was the same up to 9sp for MTB, and 10sp road (except) 4700, so any 9sp MTB mech, or something like a Sora 3500 GS mech should work.
