Shimano cable stops/adjusters

Not sure if this is allowed under the rules but l have already posed a question on the Repairs and mechanics Thread but l thought there would be no harm in asking everyone on my usual area of interest.
The question is can l install a Shimano cable stop /adjuster in place of the down tube shifters on my Vitus 979 ? The mounting surface is flat as you can see from the photo. Thanks !!

No unfortunately not. It is a very substantial piece of cast aluminium. However l think l may have the (pricy) answer on ebay....the seller assures me that they are for flat mountain on aluminium tubes , Watch this space
