They are indeed STI triggers. I'm still running my Deore LX triggers on my 30 year old MTB. They last. If they get 'sticky' just blast the internals (where the leavers enter the casing) with GT85 or WD40.

This ^^^. That adjustment has maybe 4 threads left in the brake housing and risks failure (safety issue). If you manipulate it, it will 'wobble'.
I have some Deore LX 8sp brake/triggers waiting for the right bike.

I've got Deore LX 8x3spd on a broken down Kona Muni-Mula I was gifted at the same time as the kona Cinder Cone. Just need a crank arm for it
