Shimano Deore LX Cassette Compatibility

My Specialized Crux CX bike is currently geared 46/36 front with a 34t cassette and a Deore LX derailleur. I don’t want to keep changing from road slicks to knobbly CX tyres so I have a spare set of wheels and a 12-36 cassette, I’m pretty sure the chain length will be ok but before I try it, do you thing my rear mech would work with the larger 36t cassette?
Just to add, I don’t really want to fit a Wolf tooth type extender.

The Deore derailleur is used on MTBs so should be able to cope with 36 cassette no probs.

should be ok. I swapped from 12-28 to 12-32 with no issues... although you're making a bigger leap.

Only way to find out is to give it a whirl.

Chain length should be OK unless the chain is on the short side for a 46-34 now. Take a minute or two to pop the larger cassette/wheel in and check large/large before riding ('giving it a whirrrl').
