Shimano Exage 300 Derailleur Long Cage

My aged Raleigh is currently running a Shimano Exage 300 Derailleur Long Cage with a 7 speed 28 to 12 HG cassette.
Would I be able to fit a 32 to 12 cassette instead? I don't really want to purchase one and then be stuck with a cassette I can't use.
It's currently running a triple up front so I could change this instead for smaller rings. Also the derailleur is running fine and don't really need to replace it.

Sure you can go right up to a 36t cassette.

I am going to do exactly the same on my Gemini. The only issue is that I haven’t yet checked to see whether I’m running a cassette or a freewheel.

Mine was cassette which was also able to take a freewheel.

That's looks like a Shimano Uniglide. "They had 9 identical splines (tabs) that would slide into matching grooves ..."

It's a Hyperglide/Uniglide Compatible.

To fit the new type of Shimano Hyperglide cassette, you will need a new Hyperglide Freehub or do a bit of a bodge.

Yes, I edited my post, I've had a few of those Hyperglide/Uniglide Compatible freehubs.

I didn't upgrade the brakes, I sold my Raleigh Gemini many years ago. I found that the cantilever brakes need to be setup with a lot of patience and some decent brake blocks. V-brakes would be an improvement IMHO.

You will need a new chain, if your current chain is the correct length, as the large/large(32t) needs a 1" extra link.
You will likely find in small/small (it happens) the cage will 'fold' on itself and the sections of chain touch. This will create a noise telling you to shift (front or rear or both).
