Ok, before I give up and throw my front pads in the bin and pay through the nose for a new set, is there any way to revive them once they start to squeal?
It's embarrassing and potentially dangerous (if horses were involved)!
Squealing normally means contamination unless you are going through water or in prolonged rain. If you clean the pads and rotor with disc brake cleaner this can solve the problem. Best to wipe clean with kitchen roll as you can see when the muck stops coming off the kitchen roll stays white. You may need new pads if a lot of contamination , if you do make sure to thoroughly clean the rotor with disc brake cleaner first.
