Hello all

Fairly big ride today on my race bike and it turns out my Dura Ace 9000 Cassette has broke

I've had a quick look only and it seems this may be a common problem with these cassettes, it looks like a bolt on the 17-21 section of the cassette has sheared and the middle cog (19) is now loose and basically touching the 21 cog and unusable if shifting into these gears.

Bit of a shame because the cassette is only about 7 months old and apart from that looks in great condition.

The cassette is the one that came with the bike so going to ring the bike shop and hopefully put in a warranty claim.

My question is from what I described will it likely that I will be able to claim under warranty or will this sort of damage be classed as wear and tear?

Also anyone else had this problem?

Cheers

That's a defo warranty claim and yes it is a known problem with DA cassettes

Shimano generally has after purchase date a 2 Year Warranty and a 3 year Warranty for XTR and DURA ACE.
From you problem you should get a new casette under warranty no problem.
