Does the Jamis 2010 Elite have a threaded BB ....

its your bike, have a farking look at it in stead of asking us who cant see it

another revolutionary idea is just leave the outing ring in place (or fit a dummy chainring chian guard, fit a chain catcher and remover the FD. that will help with chain retention on your new 1x

Looking at the 2010 Jamis catalogue, there is no such model as the "Elite". Elite is used as a model variant, so there is the Ventura Elite, Aurora Elite and Coda Elite.

The Ventura Elite and Aurora Elite have "FSA Mega exo, external bearing".
The Coda Elite has "FSA Power Drive, sealed bearing, 68 x 113mm".

That looks like a Hollowtech external BB

That's threaded, as the cups have the notches for the tool used to screw/unscrew them. You should be able to replace with a square taper bottom bracket.

It’s a triple. The middle and granny share bolts. The outer has its own bolts.

so the op's choices are:

• replace threaded BB with a heavier sq taper BB and fit existing 1X chainset he has. ? on chain retention
• buy a Hollowtech compatible single chainset. similar ? on chain retention
• remove FD and leave on middle ring and pretend he has a 1X chainset.

I find that these type are much better tools for removing Hollow Tech BB's.

Given that you may be only using the tool once to get those cups out, would it be worth it to get a local bike mechanic to do the job?
