So the plan was.Cycle to Bridlington four of us.home on train direct.Went to Station today to get times and costings.£30-50p single.£122 for the four of us.We could get it down to £19-60p using two trains,Brid to Hull,Hull to Leeds. But at 18-45 we might not get four bikes on the same train.Who wants to be in Hull at 18-45 in the evening,in cycle clothing and a bike, not us we have decided. So that is that.Another ride already sorted.A shock at the price of a single ticket.

The train companies don't really encourage people to use their service, do they.

Railcards are generally restrictive in their use, so while a Friends and Family railcard can allow discount fare for up to four adults, there must be at least one child in the party too, along with at least one of the two named adults on the rail card.

You could get it down to £14 if you travelled from Bridlington to Scarborough. Then Scarborough to Leeds.

As for being in Hull at 18-45 in cycle clothing.

Here's me in Brighton at 08:45 in cycle clothing.

To be honest, i'd not regard £19 as being excessive to get back from Bridlington. £14 is definitely a bargain. You really do need to get to grips with rail maps and online booking facilities.

£30 quid for rail fare, a couple of beers, a nice ride out and fish and chips at the seafront is a cheap day out in my books.

The postman doth protest too much, methinks.

Yebbut thats Brighton. The locals would be giving you wide berth, or you'd fit right in.

And whats wrong with being in Hull at 18-45 anyway? I do it daily.

I've been in Hull at 18-45 and 08-45 in identical garb and enjoyed the beery experiences. I really don't know what postman's objections are founded on - an irrational fear of being outside of West Yorkshire? :okay:

Depends on whether or not he is wearing the kilt.

That reminds me - I need to get my kilt ready for the weekend after next's frivolities at Knockengorroch.

About £16 for a 60 mile journey with bike doesn't seem so bad. I wonder what question was asked that didn't result in the cheapest ticket or group discounts being offered... or was it just a poor ticket officer?
