"Shod with..."

Has the expresssion "shod with..." when referring to wheels and tyres passed me by all these years, or is it a newish expression. It's a nobber phrase whatever.

More used to hearing it in the context of "he was shod with 18 hole cherry reds as he gave me some shoe pie".

I must be a nobber as thats the expressio (shod with) that I would use :-D

Why the need for the word "shod"? Why not e.g. "Mavic Open Pro rims with Schwalbe Ultremo X"?

It appears to me as if someone in a magazine decided it required a nobber word and they went for "shod"
