I'm looking to give my brother some advice on what shoes or pedals he should go for. I've got some M520's to let him have so he can make up his mind if he wants to go clipless or not.

When I started on the clipless route I first got some MTB shoes from Lidl and some two-way pedals from EBC. I then got some dhb R1's and the M520's for my road bike. I now have R540's and still have the R1's. My R1's came with both 2 and 3 bolt holes but I notice from Wiggle their new version R1.0 only mention 3 bolts but they do seem to have the slots though not the threaded inserts for 2 bolt cleats.

This a long winded way of asking .

Does anyone know of a good, reasonably priced shoe that has the option for both 2 and 3 bolt cleats? And if he doesn't get on with clipless he can still then use them with his old clips and straps. So MTB shoes would be too chunky.

Here for rides.
a tangent; Doesn't fit the 2- or 3- bolt bill (but I can't be bothered as 2-bolt mtb cleats work fine for me) spesh do a touring variant of their BG sport spd mtb shoe. flat sole. recessed cleat. chunkyness bypass.

Here you go

Thanks, but he thinks he might want to go down the (SPD SL/Look etc.) 3 bolt cleat line eventually but wants to try clipless and I have some 2 bolt cleat pedals he can have to try so he doesn't waste his money if he doesn't like clipless.
