i know what that feels like

although I wasn't threatened even with violence until "punch him" was said by the one who'd got my bike from me

to which i replied "you've got what you want, go" so he looked confused and ran after his mate

biking home after walking my friend to the bus station,

a couple of youths were running about and asked me if i knew where one particular walkway went, i told them (bad move, twas the one we'd walked along)

decided not to go the direct route home but to head into the city centre thinking i'd loose them

they either knew i'd come round the way i did or just got lucky, as i turned onto the road leading to my uni halls of residence one of them was wandering in the middle of the road, turned round to find his mate had appeared behind me

mounted the pavement to get past but too slow, he had the bars i was still stood astride the bike begging the couple of people wandering past to help - to no avail

got asked if i could lend them 20p for the phone (ah, so your after my wallet then) said no
asked if they could see my phone, told them it was an old nokia and not worth looking at (5110, in 2003 it really wasn't worth looking at!)

the one behind me grabbed the back wheel and lifted it and dragged it sideways, decided to lift my leg and let the bike go instead of being on the floor.

found the bike one day 2 years later on my way into uni, someone at some point had changed the forks and put the headset together wrong when doing it.

Anson Road (A34 in OP's article) is on my commute into Manchester, when not at my South Manchester base..... busy road...doesn't say what time though.

Let's say I don't hang about - it's not a particularly nice area.

I only ever had someone try to take a bicycle off me once, I was stood on one lads head while holding the other by the throat when the police arrived, it was amusing. Mostly they leave me alone, but I'm big.

I never heard anything from it again so I assume all was well, they did not bother to detain me, there were some witnesses as well and the two would be attackers were a bit of a mess afterwards so I imagine they were cautioned and released back into the wild.

Aaaah, Salford. 5 girls I knew shared a house in Lower Broughton and their landlord re-did the concrete path in their front garden. Before it set one of the local scallies scratched 'oddbods' in it with a stick.

Your in Kent? wasnt Dover by chance was it? Nice work BTW! just a shame the members of the clergy in Manchester were not 'highly skilled' in opening cans of whoop arse on the shites!

Just rarely happen to people that will fight back, so I guess when it does the police tend to be a little more relaxed than normal.

horrible place, so many stories of the feral kids. glad to be down here in sunny london now.

Although at work some c u n t had decided to, either to kill me or to have a laugh, to undo the quick release on my back wheel. real clever! lucky i spotted it before setting off.
