Shops/coffe shops that don't have the correct change.

this might be just me but I have started to notice some coffee shops that have apologised for not having the correct change or saying I owe you 2p is that ok.

One or twice ok maybe but I have started to notice it more. Is this some sort of ploy to raise extra revenue? It maybe it is just coincidence?

Thoughts?

I'd be inclined to ask them to put 2p worth more coffee in my drink...

I know it's only a few pence but it's just the principle.

Also I went into one coffee shop where you have a points card. And before I passed them my card the server had swiped there own card through.

When I did then give them my card they looked at me and said sorry they were just testing an old card.
We had to go through a process of putting the points back onto my card.

I did feel that what was done regarding the points card was disonest and did consider reporting to their head office.
I thought that I would be making a big deal out of it, but maybe next time I will.

You have the time and money to regularly go to coffee shops but complain about the odd penny here and there? Such a 1st world problem, I feel really sorry for you

Yes, you are right, I shoukd have better things to do. But was thinking out load and thought it would be an interesting topic for a cycling forum.

To be honest I normally say yes that's fine. But I have noticed it more in certain coffee shops. I thought it a bit odd. Is pressure placed on certain stores for more profits? If many are asked the same then would this not come to a large amount of money?
Short of change fine, other reasons then not so fine?

How very British, moan but do nothing about it.

Shout as loud as you can to the head office.

As I am turning into my father, I am now officially a grumpy old man, and enjoy the minute issues to have a good moan about.
However I am trying to delay these symptoms of 'grumpy old man' by not buying
The Daily M**l paper. It seems to slow the progression of grumpy old man syndrome.

I agree it isn't the end of the world, but it iS annoying when peeps sort of tut or give the equivalent via expression, when you are waiting for a small amount of change.
It doesn't particularly bother me, BUT I SHALL HUNT THEM DOWN AND WREAK THE LORD'S VENGEANCE.

It probably would not work the other way round. However it is a good point.

Unless you have the extra 1p then no coffee.......

As yet, I have never gone as far as asking for a discount in a charity shop though, like I know some have.

In a similar vein, I complimented a bloke behind the bar recently for topping up my pint after the head had settled. We had a little discussion about it...I said was it just me but am I getting served with oversize heads more often lately. He said no, it's not just me - staff are told, informally, to serve short measure, topping up without protest if there's a protest. "I don't do it. I serve a pint like I'd like to get one. But it's easy for me - I've been here ages and they can hardly sack me. But the younger ones feel under pressure..."

And while I'm on the subject, where outside the 1st world are people happy to pay full price and get less than they paid for? Or pay more than full price for what they receive?
