I haven't watched properly for a few series now although it's on in the background as my Mrs watches it. I used to really like it when the judges did actual judging, i.e. talking constructively about the facets of a particular dance, educating the laymen viewers and describing what has to be done to get maximum points. Arlene Phillips and Len Goodman were very good for that and I found it interesting then. Lately I think it has too many stale cliches. Tonioli's overscoring and theatrics. The constant booing of Craig while he's trying to deliver his point. It's become a pantomime and that puts me off it a bit.
So I thought Anton would be refreshing, and it was fitting that he'd do some judging, so I did watch just for that. He's certainly nice but he does seem to overscore just as much as Tonioli and he's not really bringing the professional insight that I thought he might.
