Should I get a more commuter friendly bike?

I've not long been cycling and commute on average 3-4 times per week 16 miles round trip,
I currently ride a triban 3 I am looking to change the tyres to 25mm, I believe mudguard clearance
is pretty tight so with the winter fast approaching would I be better looking at maybe a new road bike
that will be more commuter friendly or make do with what I already have? Thanks in advance

Looking at the Triban 3, it seems like a decent enough road bike. Stick with it for a bit longer and see how you get on. That's what I'd do.

believe 25c will fit, but I can just squeeze mudguards on with the 23c tyres.

But I wouldn't use my T3 as a winter bike. No clearance for spiked tyres when the roads are inevitably clogged with snow and ice, for starters. You won't get very big tyres on there for when you want maximum contact in slippery conditions, either.

I use a cheap steel fixie road bike (23mm shod) all year round and glad I can easily seek out flat routes where I dont really have to worry to much about the elements. Back home (in Scotland) with the ice/ wetter roads that wouldn't be possible. If its possible for you Id enjoy the triban (as I do my fixie); adding guards for the winter.

23's are fine in the wet. You just have no confidence in your self using them in the wet.

its the standard ones on my triban3 that I have issue with. Ask my mate about me, my triban and a deep wet ford....

There is a slight difference between riding in the wet and cycling in a a deep wet ford,

For 16 mile round trip I would use a Hyrbid with disc brakes, run 28s on it in the summer, 35 ice tyres in the winter. Shouldn't have to change the wheels when changing tyres and would take mudguards.

yup.
roundabout twitching was before the ford, previous week
worst bit was having to unclip, get out of river, drag bike out then wade back in to get my water bottle from down stream
