On the new bike I'm getting it has tubeless wheels and tyres and after reading some 2 year old posts on the subject I thought I would ask a few people now that have gone or tried tubeless how there getting on?
So those that have tried the them..
How did you get on?

PS.. I know I can always put tubes in if I dont like tubeless..

More information needed. What kind of riding, which rims, which tyres, what are you hopping to achieve?

The rims are Bontrager Race Tubeless Ready, tyres are Bontrager R1 Hard Case Lights 23c.

The riding is just normal road bike riding but I'm unsure of the tubeless side of things.. the posts I've read have had mixed write ups, some claim its a lot of extra work to keep things working properly, some claim they keep losing pressure and some have used the tubeless rims as standard wheels with the use of inner tubes.
So I dont know what to think really?.

I'd like some opinions on this as well.

I have a tubeless ready Ultegra wheelset on my 'best' bike. The bike is steel framed, but I've built it to be as light as reasonably practical (< 20 lbs)* Obviously tyres can have a significant impact on the weight. I'm currently running Schwalbe ZX. The bike is used purely for pleasure, but part of the pleasure for me is going as fast as I can - mostly on 20 to 50 mile rides around my local rolling countryside. I have other, slower, heavier bikes if I just want to pootle around.

The attraction to me is the apparent puncture resistance with minimal additional weight. I've punctured on 2 of my last 3 rides.

The downsides that I can see are cost of the tyres and replacing the sealant every so often - though I'm not sure if this is necessary or not?

I'd value any opinions from those who have experience of tubeless on a road bike.

*Witty comments about taking a dump before a ride will not be appreciated:rolleyes:
