Pro and Con's please?

Pro's from me:

I can use the Groupo on another bike

My Caad9 will make an excellent SS commuter

Con's

Killing the race pedigree by stealing the gears

Your thoughts ????

CAAD 9 has vertical dropouts, ja? Means you'll need a chain tensioner which won't look as pretty as pure single speed and you won't be able to try riding it fixed.

Hummmm, Im really not sure what to do.

If I go SS I can use the groupo on a new project, freeing up money for SRAM Red :-)

but some have said if your gonna SS it, then just sell it.

arghhhh

Seems wrong to me to SS a CAAD9.
If you no longer use the CAAD because you have a better bike, I'm sure there are many people who'd love to upgrade to a CAAD9. Sell the CAAD, buy a cheap frame/bike to SS and use the spare money for your project.

My commuter bikes are cheap enough that I'm happy to lock up and use anywhere / any-weather, my CAAD9 is my weekend nice bike (so you can see I'm biased).
