Should I swap these tyres?

Schwalbe Lugano PP 700x25c. New to cycling and had a problem today which is only 4-weeks and 100 miles in. Whilst doing some research about the problem I read some reviews about the tyre I'm running, and got concerned. Cannondale like to fit these onto many of their stable, yet many cyclists think their crap? Should I upgrade and save myself problems, or just persevere as they're no better or worse than many tyres on the market.

I would say stick with them for now, When/if you get a problem then swap them, you never know they might be good for a year or more:smile:

They're not 'crap' but they're not anything special either, they don't excell at anything in terms of grip, puncture resistance or weight, but they're not the worst by a long way.

I would use them for now. Wet dark winter roads make it harder to see glass etc which could trash your expensive new tyres in an instant. As Rocky Mountain said get some better ones in the spring.

DCLane

Found in the Yorkshire hills ...
I use Lugano's all year round for my commuter bike; the roads in Leeds are awful so Gatorskins etc. aren't worth buying due to masses of debris.

Usually I get 1000-1500 miles out of a tyre with few issues. At £10 each it's worth it.

Spot on with my experience, reasonably puncture proof, reasonable grip & roll and raeasonable wear.

Thanks guys, I'll leave them on for now, and think that the roads around here resemble the roads around Leeds. I'm actually from that neck of the woods and still have family there, so have to try and avoid the pot holes scattered over every road. Think that's what caused my "puncture proof" tyres to give up.

My Dyna-Tech has Luganos on it ('20' section), & they lasted very well for the couple of years they were on it, commuting/training (in all conditions/weathers) before it was replaced by the Ribble
I'd agree, for the price they're very good value

As above, they are what the are so to speak. They're nothing special but they're not crap, my only real concern is in the lack of grip in the wet. IMO, get used to the bike and how it feels before changing anything.
