got 2 decent bikes - wilier carbon and ridley orion - heres the question - really like both of them and have looked after them with slightly obsessive dedication . now i know bikes get older as we all do but do you trade in and get new or keep . do they depreciate more each year like some cars and are now 2 years old and worth 5 magic beans or do they keep value like fine wine and jewellery ( fingers crossed ) . what do you think - or what do you do

They are not washing machines or DVD playes, they are bicycles.

They get nicer with age and you say they are already nice.

Mine get lovelier with every scratch and scrape and spanner-chip they acquire.

Trading in a bicycle? Never an option unless you grow or lose a limb.

If the frameset is lovely, then as cycleparts wear out you replace them appropriately. If you want to trade up, get nicer stuff.

The above is not an opinion, it is the absolute and only truth.

Mine is the only valid opinion. Anyone who tells you to trade the bike in is either a bicycle retailer or wasn't cycling two years ago and won't be in another two years.
