Shoulder surgery post-op and rehab

Hi all, I'm facing surgery to pin together or replace the ball of my shoulder joint after a crash on the bike. Anyone been through this? What can I expect and how long does rehab generally take?

Sounds painful. Listen to what the doc says, then add some ! Had a shoulder decompression many years ago and for it to be back to 100% upto swinging off the bars climbing again without pain, took 18 months and not 3-6 months that the specialist said. If just generally healed with some discomfort, then what ever the doc says.

I had a Labral tear repair done in 2016 (followed by a clean up to wave post op frozen shoulder). Don’t think I was allowed outside on a bike for at least 3 months post op
Most important is engage a good private physio with lots of shoulder expertise for as soon as the surgeon clears you. Well worth it to avoid post op complications (NHS physio can be sorely lacking for ongoing post op rehab, last NHS physio wanted to see me every 3 weeks, shame I could get a slot more than every 6!)

When’s the surgery?

Thanks! I don't have a date yet, seeing consultant in one week. It happened this morning and I'm held together with codeine nurofen and paracetmol.
