I considered doing half that ride and getting the train back

I thought that's what you might have been thinking.

Shame you can't make the timings work.

When I got the train back from Brough by the time I'd waited for an hour or so it would have been nearly as fast to ride.

Looks a nice spec Brommie, by the way.

Is that the one that goes by the racecourse?

It is, although strictly speaking from the centre of York you ride beside the racecourse, cross the main straight, then do a little loop on part of the Knavesmire before starting the solar system part of the cycle route.

I have cycled it a few time whilst caravaning on the racecourse.

The solar bit starts under a main road, if I recall correctly.

Last time I was there some of the planets had been vandalised and there was the type of 'tag' graffiti no one would call street art.
