Well actually, I think they are closely related to the finches. English Sparrows are also called Spatze colloquially around here.They’re sparrows, well that’s me told.

To be fair though you did give us grey squirrels.We have all the English Sparrows you could want over here, introduced to the area in the 1850 in Brooklyn, New York. Starlings as well, introduced at Central Park, New York,1890's, by a fellow named Schieffelin as an idea to have all the birds from the works of Shakespeare in the park.

Not less common....the little ***** are all in our garden. Dozens of them .....along with loads of Pigeons.Nice, don't you think that house sparrows are getting less common, compared to about 30 years ago, too many cats perhaps, I quite like cats, but they do kill birds.
