Here's Jimbo's test. It never fails.

Notes.
I set the software to 'running'.

1/ It takes me down Solihull By-pass, where there's NO FOOTPATH.

2/ It takes me round the M42 junction gyratory, where's there's NO FOOTPATH.

3/ It DOESN'T know there is a footpath overbridge which joins the two closed ends of the old Warwick Road.

4/ It's NOT the shortest route.

5/ If I select 'cycling' it still takes me counterclockwise round the M42 junction gyratory.

All in all, It's useless.

You do know that you can uncheck auto-follow roads and add your own waypoints into your route?

I've posted it before, but here it is again. 11.5 miles. Mmm. the calories are definitely wrong, it says I use more calories on the way to work (downhill overall) than I use on the way back (uphill overall). Oh and watch out, it has a tendency to use the shortest route, even at roundabouts ;). Not the best tool IMO.

Yes, I know.

But if YOU got off the train at Solihull and needed to ride your bike to Knowle ( and used this mapping site to plan you're route ), it would take you along the 70 limit bypass uphill with cars merging from the left at 70 and Land Rover transporters rolling past you within reach of your right hand.

Even I don't ride there.

Haha "Gaydon".

Ahem.

I'll just get my coat.

Aaah the testing ground for land rover, aston martin and jaguar.

Good area to spot the latest from each company, i believe the latest jaguar XFR was spotted on various occasions around gaydon.

Maybe it knows the prevailing wind in that area is a west-Souwesterly, therefore making it more difficult on the outbound than the home trip.
