Never seen the last one either,looks like the product of some fevered mind employed by the County Council and we seem to have quite a few to choose from!I'm actually a Yorkshireman from the West Riding, so similar to yourself, though my part of the West Riding was put in South Yorkshire, which had this flag: -

The flag is based on the coat of arms though which is blue and yellow. Having seen both versions flying, the registered one looks more pleasing to the eye.The white is more convincing - it's the heraldic ermine.
