I have had quite a few ebikes over the years, all homemade.
Here’s a quick update so far:

1st was the original beast built from scraps found in the garage

Last is my insane 8000w / 85mph recumbent

and the 3k Turbo wheel that drags it down the road, yes they are heatsink fins fitted to keep it cool.

Despite the metal box if i was to ever (sure i will eventually if i live long enough) get an ebike it would be something like this - i don't like bendy tubes and superfluous suspension.
An alternative would have been a battery attached to the downtube but I did the conversion as cheaply as possible and the battery was one intended to fit a fat bike with sufficient space between the seat tube and rear wheel:eek:

Still looks way better to me than many of the things upthread. Have no issue with a battery atop the rack if I can still get standard panniers on.
Do stick around - i may back for tech advice.
