Unfortunately the strap is bust and a replacement costs a fortune

Messaged the seller and seeing what he says

Forgot about this.

Ended up buying a new bracelet from Oris. Had to send it to a specialist to be fitted though - they noted that it had certainly been used as intended as the previous strap bars showed salt water corrosion.

I've been after one of these for a while, and was going to pull the trigger as production has now ceased.

A Seiko Prospex "Arnie" for my collection, courtesy of Mrs D. As worn by Schwarzenegger in Predator and Commando, and Roger Moore in A View to a Kill in the scene where he chases Grace Jones up the Eiffel Tower.

I love a watch with a backstory so this is perfect. Well chuffed.

Rocking my MoonSwatch today, I know they’re hideously overpriced but I’ve found it a perfect daily watch.

Lovely timepieces.

A twist of irony in the tale though.

Omega competed with Bulova to win the contract to supply watches for the Apollo astronauts. Omega won and became the official supplier to NASA.

The Apollo 15 commander, Dave Scott, was good friends with the rep from Bulova, who also supplied loads of clocks and timjng computers to NASA, and who gave Scott one of the Bulova prototypes as a gift.

While on the surface of the moon the glass fell off Dave Scott's Omega, bestowing Omega the dubious honour of being the manufacturer of the first watch to fail in space.

Fortunately Scott had brought his Bulova moon watch with him in his personal kit and received permission from control to wear the Bulova on his next surface excursion, and thusnthe Bulofa became the first watch worn while driving a lunar rover.

The watch redently sold for an obscene sum or 1.65 million dollars at auction, and a modern reissue is available today for a reasonable price.

Note the fat control buttons designed to be easy to operate while wearing spacesuit gloves.

Awh bless xxx My first cat (cripes, that was nearly 30 years ago), was a lovely tabby & white boy who was dumped locally - before the branch of CP here was set up. He must've been abused, because while he showed he was friendly, you couldn't really touch him - poor sausage would run away, and he wouldn't come into the house. He was happy in my garage and had all his mod-cons in there.

Thanks  I find that the mid 60s to mid 70s hits the sweet spot in looks. The people that compliments whichever watch I'm wearing think I'm funning them when I tell them they're over fifty years old. But really, you can't beat good classic design.

I have eighteen - not counting the ones I've inherited. Whoops! In my defence, the vast majority of the ones I have bought myself I do actually wear.

My taste in jewellery (when I do wear any) is pretty similar - clean lines and understated.

You're into watches Reynard,😉 so what do you think about this one?🤔 Yes, It's a ladies watch, but I think it looks nice on my slim wrist. So slim that on trying it on today, the bracelet was top big for me and needed adjusting.😉

Sorry, it's not my cup of tea, I'm afraid. I'm a very practical (and not overly girly) girl, so gems and chunky bracelets don't float my boat. It's just too blingy. But if it's what you like, then who am I to stop you?

I don't often wear a "dressy" watch. When I do, it's a rather understated vintage (1969) Longines.

I should add though, that I do *like* jewellery and I have some nice pieces, but all I wear on a daily basis is a chain with a locket and a St Christopher. Silver though, not gold. That's personal choice. My tastes run to understated and classic pieces, and the same is largely true of my watches.

I do like watches with bracelets, not so much leather wrist straps. In the past when I've had watches with leather wrist straps, when the bit where the strap goes through the buckle and sometimes wears down, it annoys me immensely!😉

I like bracelets, but prefer the milanese style as they're infinitely adjustable. And straps are easily replaced - an infinite variety can be found on the bay of E. I'm actually looking at getting an oxblood lizard grain strap for that Longines.

The watch I'm currently wearing (a Watches of Switzerland Seafarer) is on a black leather strap - the one on the right in the pic below. It's actually one of my favourite - and comfiest - watches to wear. Yes, I know the crystal has a deep scratch in it, but this is one of my everyday watches rather than something that only comes out on high days and holidays, such as the Longines or the Ernest Borel on the left of pic.

I've just found this one. I quite like it. I wonder what its original price was?🤔
