My friend went to Uni in Hull, she calls it "the armpit of the North"!! However, our home town is pretty crappy these days too with a huge crater in the middle of town where shops used to be! Bradford's Bouncing Back was the slogan a decade or so ago, no chance says I!!

+1 I learned to drive just outside of Hull while I was in the army. We occasionally went into town, what a dump. Mind that was 1980

Where would you choose to move to though? (Have they still got white phone boxes in Hull BTW?- it's about the only thing I can remember about Hull apart from the fact that I was apparently the 1st person ever to be thrown out of Spiders nightclub there circa 1993). I thought Hull was OK though to be honest.

I'm lucky in that I like where I live. At least the countryside's great, some of the locals though are another matter!

No craigwend, they're absolutely right. It's a shithole.

Someone once booked me into a hotel there. I realised it was next door to the Seamen's mission, the street in front of the hotel was full of junkies and the one behind was full of all sorts. There was nowhere secure to leave my car which had a couple of competition shotguns in it. I didn't even make it as far as reception, I cancelled by phone from outside.
