Shunted up the rear (Safe for work)

I had my first ever impact with a car this morning. Well, rather a van. I was waiting at a junction and he just ran into the back of me. He raised a hand of apology, I shouted something profane, and then I rode off.

On the way home I realised I'd actually broken a spoke with the impact, and my wheel is buckled.

So, that's my last day on the bike for 2012. Both bikes will be cleaned on Saturday, and both rear wheels will be taken to the shop for a spoke & true.

He didn't look the type to be drunk at 8 o'clock in the morning. I think it was a simple lack of concentration. I feel guilty for shouting at him, even though he was totally in the wrong. I even shouted his reg plate out, even though I've not got a cam! Madness.

Have you checked the rear of your frame the rear triangle, for damage?

I haven't, but I'll make a mental note to do so when I clean it on Saturday.

Pay close attention to the stays by the back brake, check they are still straight, apart from that just look closely for anything that doesn’t look right.
