I think i have worked out .There is actually more advert time in one hour of TV than the programmes .

They never start on the hour or half hour and first ad comes in around seven mins .Another about 50 mins .Then a final set at about three mins to the hour ,which then over run the hour mark .And it all starts over again .If it was not for the kids .Virgin telly would be kicked out of this house .

There are limits to advertising. They are not allowed to show more than 8 minutes on average per hour, and a maximum of 12 minutes per clock hour.

That's why popular shows often start at quarter to the hour. They can cram in almost ten minutes of advertising before the next hour resets the quota, giving them another 12 minutes to play with for the next.

I remember that the programme "24" was widely known as "18" in this country, because that's how many hours it took them to air the first series on an ad-free channel

The We Buy Any Car advert does my t1ts right in it is annoying as hell. And you just know that they would offer you f**k all for your car if you tried, but some people must use it.
