Silly question about cleats and pedals?

Are the older type of look pedals compatible with shimano road pedals? Another cyclist today insisted they are and cleats/pedals from either are interchangable? Reason i ask is i have a few sets of older style look pedals i was going to bin but if they can be used by some one that uses shimano pedals then they wont be binned?

They dont, just in case any one is interested, Shimano cleats fit into older type look pedals but feel loose, look cleats (older type) are wider and dont fit shimano pedals at all.

Look Keo pedals are dismal quality. Chuck them in the bin and get Shimano SPD-SL.

Tbh i am thinking of changing to SPDs mtb pedals, know mtb cleats never seem to wear out, pedals are cheaper plus its a lot easier to walk with spd shoes?

Yes of you prefer being able to walk go for the two-sided SPDs, they're easier to use and you can stroll into cafés without fear of ending up on your 'arris.

Your shoes will wear out before the cleats
