What's a nice Lancashire lass doing in Yorkshire?
They moved the border a few years ago now!She doesn't look happy. So much for it being happy valley
Closer to the border!I used to live very close to that shop but I am 4.5 miles away up the valley now ... (Probably why they are 'Happy'!)
I am still trying to work out where the border IS now! I know it used to go down the middle of Todmorden town hall. I have an Oldham postcode but have a West Yorkshire council. Some online forms insist that I select Lancs for the county, others West Yorks!Closer to the border!
"F#!K me Barbara, I distinctly said I wanted a chartreuse fiesta" ......
I've never been too sure about the border (Lancashire or GM).... Walsden is still Yorkshire, I think? The last town before Greater Manchester- Or have I got that wrong?I am still trying to work out where the border IS now! I know it used to go down the middle of Todmorden town hall. On some maps, Littleborough is in Yorkshire.Hey-hey, my town in the news. And right outside Bonsall's the ironmonger. I used to live a stone's throw from that, you always see police cars parked outside there or the town hall but I never saw a silver one.....

The border is where the Calderdale surface dressing stops and Rochdale's patchwork starts just our side of the final rise up to Littleborough Summit, next to the big puddle when it rains. I'm in Yorkshire but have an OL postcode and a Rochdale phone code (though I couldn't take the number I had in Rochdale with me when I moved.) National Rail Enquires automated voice said 'tod-mor-den Lanc-a-shire' last time I used it.
There's an old style black & white ring painted pole on the left, as you head down into Littleborough, that used to mark the border. The sign is long gone. The border is where the Calderdale surface dressing stops and Rochdale's patchwork starts just our side of the final rise up to Littleborough Summit, next to the big puddle when it rains.
